To Be More Objective
Rules of conducting clinical trials have been changed in the USA. More detailed information can be found at clinicaltrials.gov website, where each study should be checked in within 21 days after enrollment of the first patient. The required information includes the study methods and data processing principles. It is considered to give an opportunity for more objective assessment of efficacy of a drug or treatment method, as according to the old rules companies chose (at least, had an opportunity to) the most comfortable and advantageous methods of assessment, confirming the effectiveness o f the investigational drug.
Francis Collins, Director of US National Institutes of Health believes that open access to information is important both for science and for patients. He is convinced, that the solution will increase the significance of clinical trials.
