Local Manufacture of Pharmaceuticals: Success and Problems
The situation with local production by international companies in Russia and related problems, including, the situation in the pharmaceutical industry, were discussed in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation at a round table session.
The leading vice-president of CCI RF Dmitriy Kurochkin reminded that to improve competitiveness of Russian economy it is required to implement the industrial policy focused on innovative development and technological modernization of production.
Participants placed particular emphasis on local pharmaceutical industry and its prospects to 2020. They discussed revival of local pharmaceutical manufacture, including through local production by international companies and influx of international investments into the Russian economy, establishment of modern manufacture in Russia using best practices.
According to the round table participants, local production by international Pharma companies in Russia is quite successful. But there are some issues that require urgent solution, including regulatory base deficiency, interdepartmental inconformity and unavailability of a single regulator.
The issue of production of substances, which was particularly important after announcement by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade of a three-stage preference system for public purchase, depending on the depth of processing. Talking about driving the manufacture of pharmaceutical substances in RF, Victor Dmitriev, Director of ARPM stressed, that economic effectiveness of production expansion should not be forgotten.
