An Immunobiotechnology Department of Saint-Petersburg State Chemical Pharmaceutical Academy has been established at the production site of Federal State Unitary Institution Saint Petersburg Scientific-Research Institute of Vaccines and Sera. It is a logical continuation of active cooperation between SPbSRIVS and SPCPA. The cooperation which began with development of GMP programs and a course of lectures for specialists at SPbSRIVS, gave good results. It helped improve the knowledge of SPbSRIVS employees in the field of chemistry and pharmaceutics. 15 students from the Russian FMBA, including SPbSRIVS study at the drug industrial technology department of SPCPA. SPCPA students always undertake practical training at the Institute for Biotechnology.
Employees of the new department are challenged to prepare specialists with full understanding of the issues that the biotechnological industry is facing. That is why the curriculum will be focused no only on knowledge transfer, but also on knowledge processing for practical use and personal decision making in the field of professional problems.
The new department is headed by Professor Igor Krasilnikov, PhD, Biol., Assistand Director SPbSRIVS. He is a renowned scientist, specializing in applied aspects of immunobiotechnology in the field of development of new products for healthcare.
